Magnesium tape (Mg) is a silvery-grey thin, narrow sheet. We supply magnesium tape with a purity of 99.5% in a length of 25 m. Pyrotechnicians and fireworks experts use magnesium tape for igniting fireworks, entertainment and special effects, film, and theatre pyrotechnics.

Magnesium tape – magnesium ribbon or magnesium strip can also be ignited with matches or a lighter after a longer period. However, a more powerful flame source from a burner or Bunsen burner is more suitable.

After ignition, it burns slowly with a very bright white flame. Magnesium tape or foil also serves as an ignition starter for pyrotechnic systems. During combustion, white magnesium oxide powder is formed.

Caution: the flame of burning magnesium can emit UV radiation, use protective goggles with UV factor. Magnesium cannot be extinguished with water, it burns even under water at very high temperatures around 2200 °C! Special dry extinguishers or specially treated powders must be used for extinguishing. Purchase them before any experiments and ignitions.
