Tellurium 99.99%, 1 g
Tellurium (Te) is a rare metallic element, Latin and English for Tellurium. The name comes from the Latin word tellus, meaning earth. At normal temperatures and pressure, tellurium is silvery-white, brittle, and has low hardness. In nature, it usually occurs in gold ores and in various compounds, the most common of which are silver, gold, and copper tellurides.
Tellurium for sale: we supply packaging with a purity of 99.99% in multiples of 1 g.
Tellurium has a melting point of 449.5 °C and a boiling point of 987.85 °C. It is a semiconductor and has properties similar to metals. In nature, tellurium is found primarily in Peru, the USA, Canada, and Japan, especially in the ores sylvanite, calaverite, and krennerite. Today, most tellurium is obtained by miners as a by-product of copper mining and refining.
Tellurium is not magnetic, it has diamagnetic properties, meaning it repels from a magnet. Tellurium is used in electronics as a component in transistors, relays, and measuring instruments. In optics, tellurium is used as an optical element for the infrared spectrum.
Since tellurium has never been very common, its use is limited. In the past, it was used for the production of thermostats, as a contrast dye in ceramics, and for coloring glass. Today, manufacturers use tellurium, for example, for thermoelectric devices or solar panels.
One interesting fact about tellurium is that it is the most diamagnetic of metals.
