Pyrolytic carbon (pyrolytic graphite)

Thanks to thin slices of pyrolytic graphite (1-2mm), various experiments based on so-called diamagnetic levitation can be carried out.

An experiment with diamagnetic levitation can be performed using very thin and light fractions of pyrolytic graphite. Such a slice of this material can then literally float above a system of magnets.

The experiment utilizes the fact that pyrolytic graphite is repelled by both poles of the magnet simultaneously.

Miniature slices of pyrolytic graphite are an ideal tool for demonstrating physical laws, and can also be used for scientific and research purposes.
