Neodymium magnets are usually nickel-plated or zinc-plated. However, in variable climatic conditions, this may not be sufficient.
When used outdoors, it is better to use a neodymium magnet with a Teflon surface (PTFE/Zn-PTFE), for example, this neodymium magnetic disc with a diameter of 20 mm and a height of 5 millimeters. It is more durable, additionally abrasion-resistant, moisture-resistant, yet still with a strong magnetic force of approx. 7.8 kg.
Neodymium magnets with a Teflon surface have a greyish to anthracite appearance, blending better with the surrounding environment.
