Product description

Germanium (Ge) is a brittle, gray metalloid with a metallic luster. It has a melting point of 938.3 °C and a boiling point of 2,830 °C. Germanium is important for the production of semiconductors, used in electronics where it replaces silicon in specific applications, such as optical fibers or infrared systems. Thanks to its optical properties, it is used in lenses and infrared detectors.

  • Czech Germanium, Latin Germanium, English Germanium

Germanium was discovered in 1886 by the German chemist Clemens A. Winkler. The element is chemically similar to silicon, and its use has gradually expanded to modern electronics and telecommunications.

In rocks, germanium is found only as an impurity in zinc and silver ores, but it also occurs as a trace impurity in some coal deposits.

We supply germanium with a purity of 5N (99.999%), we have it in stock for immediate dispatch. For larger orders over 100 g, we can offer significant volume discounts, in which case please contact us by email at sales@unimagnet.cz.

In medicine, germanium is being studied for its potential therapeutic properties, for example in the field of immunotherapy. In addition, it is sometimes part of alloys that improve the strength and durability of materials. Thanks to its diamagnetic properties, it is used in physical experiments and studies related to magnetism.

Germanium is key to the production of various optical and electronic devices, such as detectors, solar cells, and laser systems. Despite its rarity and higher price, germanium is widely used in industry, providing unique properties important for specialized applications.

Get germanium with 99.999% purity for scientific purposes, experiments, and electronics.
