How can I find out where the magnet's north pole is?

The north pole of a magnet is the pole that points north after magnets have stabilized in the air. You can demonstrate this phenomenon by combining several magnets and inserting a string between them. Opposite poles attract each other, which means that the north pole on Earth is actually a magnetic south pole.
Another way to determine the north pole of a magnet is with the help of a compass. The end of the needle, which normally points south, will turn towards the north magnetic pole.
